Recently I was asked if I could make a little tree to display jewelry and eliminate the problem of pieces getting tangled up in the jewelry box. After looking at a number of commercial items made of metal or plastic, here’s what I came up with. The rings, milled from a scrap of oak, rotate on the dowel shaft and are held in place by bamboo rod perpendicular through the central shaft. Holes for earrings, and bracelets or necklaces can be fastened over the rings. Made of red oak with Minwax Provincial stain and lacquer topcoat. Wish I had come up with a better way to get the earring holes equidistant on the rings, but maybe if there’s a next time… It is quite crude, but fulfills the intended purpose. At least the idea might be useful to other LJ’s who are more skilled than this thumb buster!

Nice work, Thumbs! Good design idea and well executed. The recipient of this should be really happy to get it.

That’s an interesting piece. I like things that get used. Someone will pass that on to someone they love.Nice work!
