I have made many custom shadow boxes. This one is right up there with Silent Service (Del’s Sub) on my projects list. The customer wanted to incorporate a shadow box into the “helo” and his units laser engraved on the door. The laser work I outsourced. I tried to keep everything to scale but the body would not fit the items he had for the box so I enlarged it a little. The cockpit windows I inlayed in walnut with my FESTOOL router (OF 1010 EQ). The rest was tackled via different saws and hand planes to include spoke shaves for shaping. I own no CNC’s, not that I have anything against them. And yes that is my workbench. LOL!

There was more I wanted to do to it. Maybe next time….

I can’t tell where the ship leaves off and the work bench begins. Is the on the side of the shadow box or is the ship the shadow box.

Wow! Impressive work. I just got a shadow box for my time in the Army. Nothing that elaborate.

What are the overall dimensions? Sure hope the receiver has the real estate on the wall for it.

That’s worth showing off.
