I purchased the walnut under the impression that they were butternut from a local sawyer. I had them stacked in the shop for about a year. I then took a hand plane to it and discovered 2 of the three were walnut and the other log was butternut. Since they are pretty well checked, I decided this was the best option. The pine came from my backyard.

I think you could sit on it and it would not break, even dance a jig. walnut looks great.

I would be going back to that sawyer to see if he had any other misidentified wood. Around here walnut is expensive. Great table, thanks for posting.
