I have been enjoying others projects on this site for a long time and figured I should show a few of the things I have been busy on as well.

I had been wanting to build a shed for a few years, but I couldn’t decide on the specific design. Fortunately I stumbled upon familyhandyman magazine’s free dream shed plans. Every year they create a new dream shed and the 2013 edition caught my eye. The plans are thorough and easy to follow. Overall cost of the project was around $3500-$4000. The cost could be cut in half if you’re willing to use different trim/siding, but I wanted it to match my house and chose the pre-finished route. I started it in late 2016 and had to stop due to several big snow storms. I was able to finish it the spring of 2017. My wife and I really like the detail work incorporated into the trim. Everything was site built including the doors and windows.

I have some other projects I will share as well. Thanks to all of the members on here for inspiration. I also enjoy writing about my projects and find that it helps to solidify new skills that I have learned. My blog is dedicated to continuous learning to keep my mind young (youthfull mind). If you’d like to read the long version of my build, please check out my blog. or twitter

I have 10 total blog posts for this shed.

Thanks for checking out my shed!

Nice! What siding did you use that was so expensive?

It is smart siding 4×8 panels. It isn’t a standard color though so we had to special order it which made it cost 4x the cost of the standard color. I figured the 30 year paint warranty was worth it.

A fetching look for a shed – the details make it. I’ll have to keep it in mind when I move in a year or two. Maybe up-size it into a small shop.

I’m in agreement with michelletwo. That’s the nicest shed I’ve ever seen.

Your shed is much nicer than the one I built several years ago. I enjoyed the project, doing all of the work by myself except for raising the walls, which my wife helped with.

Thanks for all of the comments!

Earl, I had help for the walls as well, but did most of it by myself too. It can be a one person job, but you definitely have to get creative with a few things.

Nice shed!
I was looking at the terrain surrounding your shed and thought, that sure looks like South Dakota. It’s cool how most regions have a distinct look.
Welcome to lumberjocks!

Thanks Jeff. We definitely have a unique view. We have one of the few rock outcroppings in the area as our backyard.
