I made this in a couple of hours on a rainy afternoon a few weeks ago when i was supposed to be cleaning the shop. Made of white pine leftovers and assembled with simple dowel joints. I got the plans from Aug 1954 Popular mechanics

I modified the original plans to hold ten rods instead of five and used a drop door on the front instead of drawers.
Finish is some red stain that I had on hand. I am going to redesign this, making the entire rack taller so it is better proportioned. I think it would look good in oak.

Very nice. I’ve been wanting to make one of these for my dad. Good job and thanks for the inspiration.

Now that is what I need to make. I have so many poles and no rack.
Nice job.

Very Nice Rod Holder & Storage!

I made one for a friend about a year ago. It took longer than a day though….LOL…

Same as the Picture below that came from one of the Sporting Goods Stores. The newest “Wrinkle” is to put a “Slanted” Bottom on it rather than a hole for each rod. Weight of the rod keeps it in place and gives more room for various styles of Rods, with or without reels attached.

This one will hold 20 Rods. The one I made was from Pine with a Natural Poly finish only. Now I have to make one for myself that will hold at LEAST that many Rods ..LOL…
