I wanted to make something different for a Christmas gift for my father this year. I had a few scraps left in the shop and a piece of firewood that was showing signs that it would have some spalting. The spalted mystery wood was a little too far gone, it cracked a few times but I was able to salvage it with some CA glue repairs.

The design is based on one from David Picciuto’s “The New Bandsaw Box” book.

The wood looks like alder. Great job, it came out nice.

On your box and drawer edges it prob wouldn’t hurt to round your edges a bit more, by placing skids under the drawer will also help center it in the cavity as well.
