It’s been a few years since I’ve posted, just been busy with other projects and not much tinker time… Travel cigar box for a son. Spalted maple (firewood) & walnut w/tung oil finish. Magnetic hasps and magnets hold the cutter & Zippo. Since it’s not cedar lined this is more of a day or weekend trip box. I’ll have another cigar box to post soon, it’s truly beautiful. I definitely liked this project but had a few struggles along the way…learning experience! I tried to use small ball magnets for the hasp but they ended up repelling each other, ugh. Ever try to drill out a tiny highly polished ball rare earth magnet? Yeah, the bit just slides off to the side! Tried to knock the tip off a forstner bit and work that, it didn’t work; ended up using a uni-bit to start and then switched to a concrete bit. I just about trashed the thing trying to get those @&#! magnets out. I think with a couple more boxes I could master these things and maybe make a couple bucks

Nice wood combination, I like that kind of rustic style.

Just saw this, nice! Like your idea to use magnets to hold the cutter/lighter. Clever!
