Last night I was going to post this jig but discovered I didn’t take any pictures, just video. Today and set it up again, not problem as it only takes a few minutes. I cut a new disc, larger than the one in in video though and discovered something that you might want to consider for set up. This time I am using the tread cutting jig on the drill press to drill holes on the outside. This opens another whole realm of projects, some that would be difficult to do with out it.
Setup. I drew a line across the disc right threw the center of the disc. Found out this may aid in setup, If your saw cut is directly below the shaftj just line up the line with the center of the saw cut. Check that the line is vertical just to make sure. May not be to critical for some projects, but critical for others.
Position the drill bit centered on this line where you want to drill
Clamp the unit to the drill press table and lock it to the column
Drill and rotate to drill all the indents in the indexing plate that you have chosen.
Thats all there there is to it, accuately space holes with no effort. Just fun to do. The first time I used it as demonstrated in the video, I made into a fan for a weather vane.
There are other things this jig can help you make, after seeing that old truck that duchy posted today with the spoke wheels, and since |I had to set the jig up again, I thought may be I could make one with this jig setup. An hour later.
The setup for this one is more critical, It is not as accurate as I want. That is just the rim, I need to make a tire for it. This was the second one, I used a different type of drill bit for this one and it turned out allot better.
To learn more about this jig and see it in operation I made the following video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIpLX9HxwDs
I see some of you might have already watched it as I was planning of posting this last night.
I also made today, a jig to make the index wheels, drilled one today and it appears successful, will do more work and post it tomorrow night.
Thanks for looking and your interest in these indexing jigs,
Comments and suggestions are appreciated as we learn together, you may have a better idea. These jigs did work well the first time used, but I can see improvements and can post them later.

Very clever jig. Indeed, it opens whole new possibilities in making projects.

Need to see the very first part of this operation and that is the first indexing wheels or master indexing wheels as called. Was it done on a lathe or did you make a jig for that too?? What is the size of your master wheels? What is the size of the holes for the stop you are using

Excellent Brian.
You the Man.
-- Bob, Western Australia, The Sun came up this morning, what a great start to the day. Now it's up to me to make it even better. I've cut this piece of wood 4 times and it's still too damn short.

I have basically the same jig that I use for wagon wheels. Using different spacing’s on different discs I make from 8 to 18 spokes. Great minds think alike. But you did me better by sharing your idea.

As Hunter71 said great minds think alike, as I made my first wheel jigs I thought of all these great applications that the indexer will be helpful for and man I love your wooden spring to stop the wheel in place.
I would add to any other making this jig to be sure and add support to the bolt holding the wheel blank or over time the down ward pressure could get it out of round.
Just my $.02
Now with this project in mind I will be changing my indexer over from a side hole out fit to the new improved end hole system. LOL

I really like your new jig, as a matter of fact I have not seen anything you have put on LumberJocks that I don’t like. Your big wood lathe has inspired me to start gather metal and parts to try and build my own larger lathe. I find my lathe is just not big enough. Keep those good ideas coming.
