Last project – 2 little oak boxes from firewood (this season I bought some oak firewood and sometimes manage to salvage some interesting pieces), the bigger one got aspen bottom.
Bandsaw (outside) and scrallsaw (inside cut) project. Finishing is simple cutting board oil. In general I do not like using it as it gives darker look: could anyone sugest finishing that does not give too much shine and has minimal impact on collor?

It was originaly intended as packaging for home made Christmas decorations (gifts to be). It just that it takes more time than decoration itself.

p.s. Skis inside is joint my and my wifes diy Christmas decoration project (also from salvaged oak).

p.p.s. Sorry for my English, I’m not a native speaker.

Rustic and simple, neat look. I know what you mean about cutting board oil and mineral oil, they seem to get to change the color.

Try teak. It did not darken the hickory box on which I wiped it.
