Reclaimed Balou 5 Legged Deck Table

This 2.2 meter long table was made from my client’s old Balou deck benches that I replaced with the new benches shown in the photos. Considering the length and weight of the finished table, I figured it needed a 5th leg. It took a lot of planing but think the result was worth it. I love to reclaim / reuse old hardwood…..a real pity to just trash it. Had a problem with one of the table top joins because one of the planks was badly twisted. I solved the problem by using a sliding dovetail made from some of the bench seat Garapa. The client loves the “stripe” that mataches their benches. I explained to them that left untreated (recommended) the whole table will eventually turn a silver gray to match the decking.

Looks great. Love seeing old wood get used again. I like the dimensions for the deck, it’s a bench, table, footstool all in one.
