Haven’t posted a project in a while, but wanted to put up the new mantel I finished up for my wife a week ago.
She’s big on A&C and G&G styles so this is a bit of a mix. Turned out pretty good I think and I also did the custom tile work on the fireplace surround.
Only thing left is to wait for her to pick a new screen to replace the original bright brass one.

Well done. G&G details combined with Arts & Crafts tile looks great. I especially like the finger joint details on the center piece.

Here’s the pitch… Crack! Home Run!
The Greene and Greene joinery, wood color, and tile all work so nicely together.
This is a job well done.

Thanks all,
Wood is cherry. The local place had a good sale on s3s cherry, so essentially all my projects will be cherry for a bit to use up the stock I bought. The dye is a variation of the Darrell Peart G&G recipe. The normal recipe is 7 parts orange to 4 parts medium brown GF WB dye. I’ve done a couple of other pieces with that that will sit next to the fireplace, so I did a mix of 7:5 to for the fireplace to have it be slightly darker than the other furniture.
Thanks,
Mike

I also like the A&C style. Beautiful work, I can picture what that would look like with a hand wrought copper screen.
