Project Information

This is a 10" basswood rim flat plate that I chip carved and added the name of the couple getting married along with the date on the back. I combined Old World Style and European style chips on this plate. OWS are the center two elements. Finished with 3 coats of spray satin lacquer, one coat of nutmeg gel stain and one final top coat of spray satin lacquer.

Thanks for looking and commenting / questioning if you wish.

Stunning. How did you apply the gel stain, and remove excess stain?

Thanks to all. You are very kind and encouraging.
Dan, I brush on the gel stain and then immediately wipe off the gel stain with a cotton cloth. I wrap the cloth around my finger tightly so I just wipe off the surface.

Superb work, I can't write my own name as well as you carve.

Marty, this is a fantastic plate and displays a lot of artistic talent, carving skill, and craftsmanship. It's so beautifully done.
