Needed an Easel ASAP!

My neighbors needed an easel for a party at the clubhouse today. I grabbed what I could scrounge up and came up with this. It is just pine.

I added removable dowels so that they can have multiple options for display height/area, a magnet I found to hold the leg closed when moving/storing, and just a simple string to hold the leg when extended. I also put non-slip pads on the feet. $0 spent. I’m not sure if we will do anything for a finish after the party today.

It was a quick and dirty build but they are all set for their christmas tree decorating social at the clubhouse.

Drew there are many ways to make an easel. Looks solid and functional and they will be pleased.

Thanks Doc. When I googled it I was amazed at different designs. This will basically hold poster board displays. I am glad I made it last night instead of watching “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”. They were here to pick it up at 9:00 AM.

Neat—quick—functional; very handy to have around a “club house”.

I like using what is laying there!

That’s very nice easel with lot of useful and practical additions. It’s very similar in it’s simplicity to one I make also, posted on 22JUL2010, on one of my first posts and most viewed post. Great work.

Thanks Charles and Ivan.

I like the finish on yours Ivan. I think they are leaving this one up until the end of December. I will have a chance to put a finish on it then. I’ll probably just use shellac since it’s pine.
