It's like the Abacus but a little different. Japan uses the Soroban to help teach elementary students math. (That's what I read on the internet so it must be true)
I made the beads from Padauk and hand turned each one one individually on my drill press, using files. I like the way they came out. The frame is Goncola Alves (Tigerwood)). Mortice and tenon joints. Brass rods fit into triangular brass tube piece set in Kwik Set epoxy putty. The inspiration for that idea came from a blog by Jerry.
