This a a stool for my shop, I used Maloof joints for the legs. It’s made from hickory that I cut to make room for the shop, both the front and back are live edge. I carved the seat with an angle grinder with a 40 grit disk, then lots of sanding!
I’m trying to come up with a good plan to replace our bar stools in the kitchen, I think the seat is right but I want to do something different with the legs on the next version. I think I’ll do bigger joints that flow into smaller diameter legs to make it a bit more graceful
This beefy version will be great for the shop though!

I think you about have it nailed for bar stools. Obviously the legs below the stretchers would be longer to make it to the bar top, but I like that center cross brace from the front and back stretchers, since people usually put their heels up on the front stretcher of a bar stool. Usually you see the H pattern going the other way, on normal chairs.
And the seat pattern looks great!

Very nice stool! That thing should last a long time. Hickory is awesome.
