My name is Al and I am new to this site. I turned this Emperor pen out of spalted tamarind. The finish is 20 thin coats of cyanoacrylate and it is buffed with MicroMesh. I am worried that the timber may be too flashy for the kit or maybe the other way around. But here it is anyway. Comments and criticisms welcome.

Al, welcome to lumberjocks, I think your pen looks great, the more spalting the better, nice photography too.

Wow… really unusual wood! The pen is really pretty. You picked a good combination of wood and hardware for this, too. Not too flashy at all.

Absolutely beautiful pen. Great work. I think that you matched the wood and the kit perfectly. That’s something you should be proud to display and use.
Good job.

As a pen turner myself I can assure you that this is a great pen!! If it were a fountain pen it would be on my “consider to purchase” list.

Al, it looks just fine to me. Better than fine in fact. I think your choice of CA on spalted is best since spalting is a fungus. And welcome to LJ.
