This is a turned box I made from poplar. It is 3 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches in diameter. The outside of the box was sprayed with an orange stain. The exterior has been embellished with a wood burner using a custom made tip.

Man, that is one great box… The custom tip, did you make it? I like the box a lot!

Nice looking box. I have a book for learning friction lid boxes. Haven’t tryed any yet. I also like the burning on it also.

Very nicely artful box. The texturing and the stain came out really well too.

This is a response to Sedcokid’s question. The woodburning tip I used was made out of a nichrome wire. The wire was wrapped 4 times around something like a 3/16 dowel. It looks like a tight spring when done. The side of the spring was used to burn in the indentations in random directions.
