This desk was an anniversary gift for my wife. The top is made of solid surface corian inlaid around a 1/4 sawn white oak design. The floating top alsot has lights mounted underneath it to give the illusion that it hovers like a ufo. The drawers on the left and across the top are dovetailed, and the on the right there is actually a door made to look like drawer fronts. This cabinet is to house the computer.

The natural finish is on 1/4 sawn white oak, the black finish is on 1/4 sawn red oak.

Wow!! That is just gorgeous.

How are the drawers working out with the wooden slides…any play there? How thick did you make the drawer sides?

This is inspiring to me. I like the floating ufo top idea very unique. Thanks for posting and thanks for becoming a Lumberjock too. I look forward to your future projects.

I really like it. Lots of stuff going on. The corian, the colors, the lifted top, the black on wood dovetails, the design,....

Good job,
Steve

How did you get the dovetails finished with the contrasting finishes?
