9 pointed star #5

I had a long piece of sapele in the garage and it happened to catch the light just right… I loved the golden glint and iridescence, thought it would look nice in the center of the 9 points. Once I cut out the pieces and played with the parts a little, I liked the look of the star with the gap between points (photo 2), but the glue-up of THAT looked like a nightmare. Opted to add a little mango I got on a trip to Hawaii. I can’t even remember what the piece was that I used for the center points. It’s not purple enough for purple heart, but it was very heavy, very dark. Beautiful to work with.

About 9 inches from top to bottom.
