At a friends request I completed this box with a dragonfly engraved in the top. The woods used are maple and Curupay. The outside of the box toward the bottom was grooved to breakup the the wide sides of the box. Quadrant hinges were used and a brass rod in the upper tray servers as a lift or pull to remove the tray. The finish is clear lacqure. The dragonfly was hand airbrushed (the inlay part) and any over spray sanded off.

I really like the dragonfly and how you achieved the airbrush color blends.

dgreen, nice work. I like the “grooves” in the sides and the dragonfly…colorful and attractive. I have good luck with trays that are a bit smaller than the box. They let you simply lift the tray out and it is not too difficult to balance.

You have made a wonderful selection of woods. The Curupay is especially beautiful. Great finish. Keep boxing and keep posting.

Very nice box! I really like the dragonfly and wish I could see it in person!
