So I attempted my first joiners mallet. Made it out of walnut for the handle and hickory for the mallet. Made the handle a little short so it would be not be handle heavy but mallet end heavy. Think it turned out alright.

I have not seen a mallet head with the grain running in that direction before. I am curious how it works over the course of time.

Nice looking mallet. Like TechTeacher04 said never seen one made with the grain like that. Keep track and repost in say a year and show how it has held up. Be interesting to see.

Yeah didn’t think about grain direction will update as I use it. Of course might be a little skewed on results as I did use hickory for the mallet head.
