The wife wanted a buffet for our kitchen but couldn’t find what she was looking for. Had her give me a sketch, this is what I came up with. Not perfect by any means, but the boss is happy.

That’s really creative. It takes a good eye to see that sort of potential in an old piece. You constructed it nicely too. Since there has been discussion in other threads about the lack of constructive criticism in project comments, I will say that I’m not a fan of the surface mount hinges. I think it would look better to have mortised them in the side of the door and the face frame stile so just the knuckle showed. There’s no right or wrong, it’s just what looks good to you.

Thanks Rich. I completely agree with you on the hinges. My wife picked out the hinges and that was how she wanted them. Also tried to talk her out of using three but you can see who one that battle.

I like the up grade to some very pretty and useful. You made this for your wife, if she wants three surface hinges thats the perfect way to go.
