This is a toy box that I made for a nephew’s birthday back in 2008. I made it out of some edge-glued pine panels that I bought at Lowe’s, so I ultimately painted it. I used a signcrafter template to rout his name in the front panel.

I love it, that is such a nice gift. Now you’ve got me thinking about making some for Christmas gifts :)

Nice chest, I like the bottom banding around the chest. How did you attache the sides to each other?

Otto: Yes, I do enjoy making gifts for my nephew (and others as well), it gives me an excuse to look into new plans and try my hand at wooden toy building.

Richard: This was a very simple box made with simple glued butt joints that I reinforced with finish nails (4d, if I’m remembering correctly) that I set below the surface, filled with putty and sanded smooth before priming and painting.
