Box Elder Bowl ( Nest Bowl)

This is from a wedge of wood at the bottom of a tree that blew down in LJ Garry Strout’s yard. Thanks Garry.
It was box elder so I took it to see if there was much red in it before we came back for the rest of the tree. Well there was, so it is a female box elder tree.
This bowl is 9 1/2” in diameter and 2 1/4” high. It is finished with Danish Oil and 3 stage buffed and waxed.

Well, Jim, I think the Name of this bowl should be “A Nest Bowl”.

If you look closely, you will see a bird sitting on a nest inside the bowl! :)

Beautiful! A Great conversation piece…

Nice job Jim. Looks like you are getting another supply of Box elder. Can’t have too much of that. I use it sparingly for special projects.
