Book case that was supposed to go in bedroom but ended up in living room because I liked it when it was done. This is my last project with pine. I signed up for a class at tech school and started working on hardwood.

Its difficult to make pine look good. You did a great job on the color. You’re flying through the beginner phase. I’ve been doing this for over two years now and you have past me right up.

I can see why it is in the living room. That is a one fine bookshelf you have there. Well done!

Looks great. Nice job on the finish. I’ve been woodworking for over 10 yrs and still mainly use pine. It fits my ‘rustic’ decor. and my tight pocket! lol I see you started out like me, projects for the yard and bookshelves. It’s a wonderful hobby.

Thank you HokieMojo, I sanded – A LOT – because I love sanding. And then it is stained with Summer Oak, I believe it is a Minwax stain. Then I used Poly on it.

I too, am impressed with the finish you got on this. Pine can splotch terribly, and you succeeded in getting an even, rich finish on it. Very nice.

It’s funny but everyone has said that same thing barbs but what I didn’t know didn’t hurt me! LOL I just finished it, didn’t do anything special so I guess I got lucky!
