My son asked me to make some field games for his wedding reception. This is the Giant Jenga set I made. The box is made from 200 year old barn board salvaged from a fallen barn in northern Maine. The game pieces are made from fir/hemlock 2×4s from the big box store. It took quite a lot of picking to find rift or quarter sawn boards for these.

All work done with hand tools. Planed each game piece to remove tool marks. Dovetailed the box. Not a straight forward job and the thickness of the boards varied and there was some cupping I could not get rid of. I flattened the back edge of the dovetailed edge to the scribe line with a Stanley 78 to get a good reference face.

It was a fun project and a good chance to practice some hand tool skills.

It was a big hit at the wedding.

Nice work redtail, I bet there was a lot of talk about your project at the wedding.
