Some call it rustic. I made my own rustic look and design from some good Louisiana Sinker Cypress.
This box got started about a month back but got delayed because of a couple of vacation trips and some other shop projects.
It is 8×8x4 and sealed with lacquer.

Now that’s a face you should carve into a box!

That’s what I call rustic with a lot of natural character. I love it.

You brought out some nice features from this wood and it looks great !
After looking at it for a while it came to me what it reminded me and it is the Hoodoos in southern Alberta .

Thanks everyone…I’ve always liked rustic wood but never had any to work with before that had the appearance i was visualizing. Well, if you can’t find just what you want… then try to male it. Creating the textures is fun and it has been giving me new design ideas combining textures and polished wood that I am brainstorming. Might work…might not…but I gotta try for the fun of it.

How is the grain pattern on the inside so different from the outside?
