Project Information

I started this project from the T&J pattern but decided to change it to look like one of my dad's trucks. I was pleased with the outcome of my first project. I am in the process of building a Freightliner classic for a friend.

Now that's a truck and yes "Class Pays" as the Peterbilt moto says and this one is a top example….well done!!

You can get some Peterbilt "Lapel Pins" and "Key Tags" for the Peterbilt merchandising shop…they look extra great.

Excellent job, Hottie... Nice change of pace with the darker timber for truck tyres rather than the "normal" black paint/stain/ebonizing.

Does the crank on the back serve a purpose or just a part of the model's infrastructure?

That looks amazing!! My first wood project was a small Batman car for my grandson. Nothing with this level of detail! Great job!!

Little Black Duck, I tried keeping everything wood, so the tarp is "rolled up" on the right side. I stained a dowel for the look of a darker tarp, I stained the tires walnut on this model, didn't think I was quite ready to make my own tires/wheels just yet. The only metal was 2 10-32 machine screws to make the dollies raise and lower.

Also thanks to everyone for your comments, I appreciate it.

Aha! Two words summed up by 1,000 pictures… or something like that!

If I may add… Check out some of htl and Dutchy posts…. they have great wheel making tutorials.

Pjones has a good coverage of his take on wooden "screws" in one of his builds.
There are many more but those 3 are a good start for a newbie…

PS. Shame it was missing from the original project…

PPS. Hint: If you want more than the 6 permitted pictures in the gallery, include it in the narrative… you may not be able to "blow it up" but at least the gallery can be "expanded".

PPS. Welcome to Lumberjocks.

I'd like to add that the first six can be deleted and new pictures added as you up date the truck.
