My boys, 2 and 4 yrs, needed a new table. The table was inspired by an Edward Barnsley piece I saw.

I had a few oak boards on hand, and wanted to use them up. I thought it was all red oak, but it turns out one of the boards was white oak, which I had already designated for the top.

Not wanting to mix and match White and red oak, I thought about dying, staining, even painting the base. Then I ran across an article in latest FWW magazine and was intrigued with the bleaching process.

The top is finished with a penetrating epoxy and Epifanes matte varnish. The base was bleached using Zinssers 2 part bleaching solution and top coated with water based Poly acrylic.

Overall dimensions are 24”W X 28”L X 20” H

Thanks for looking!
