Maple and Cherry excavator made with plans from Wood Magazine, woodmagazine.com/cgtoys This was a lot of fun to build for my son. He can’t stop playing with it. I made the mistake of showing the catalog of all the plans available and now my son wants the other construction vehicles too. Ooops.

That really came out nice Eric!
I made the Crane for my grandson a couple of Christmas’s ago and it’s still played with on a daily bases.
I believe this will be a family heirloom.
So, what vehicle are you building next? :)

Thank you fivecodys. He wants the crane too, but he asked for the backhoe next.

That will teach you to let him see the others. Seriously great job on the excavator, I also have made the crane. He will enjoy all of the different construction toys in that series.

Very nice and sounds like a chance to introduce him to woodworking.

Looks great. Soooo much better than the plastic ones at the big box store. Now you need to make him a dump truck go with it.

Thank you all. Woodify, these woodmagazine ones are so much better than any of the stuff you’d find in stores, and most likely will last longer too. He has a few different plastic/metal dump trucks already though so if I make one that will be last on the list.
