My wife is going back to school to get her masters in family and marriage counseling (I know…how lucky am I?). She wanted a new desk for her home office and instead of purchasing something from one of the big box stores, I decided to offer up my services and build her something she could call her own. We went over a couple different designs and we finally came up with this…simple, yet functional for her. Pocket hole joinery using framing lumber from the local home center. Top is made from 2×8’s and stained grey. Most expensive element of the build was the 4 gallons of 2-part epoxy resin which gives it a nice glossy finish.

I brought this in from my workshop and assembled in the house Friday night before Harvey hit. We propped it up on some scrap wood just in case our house flooded. Good thing we did, because our house and garage flooded along with a couple hundred thousand others in the Houston area.

A nice desk. Well done. I am also glad to hear you are able to post from your home.

Nice table top, the epoxy must be real thick, that is allot of epoxy, I can’t imagine using that much.
