another growth chart ruler done, this one they requested something firefighter themed (my friend who commissioned it, her husband is a firefighter). My wife found a fire fighter decal that I really liked, so I scrolled it out of paduak with plans of just inlaying that into a red alder ruler, but i really liked the idea of putting some of my fiddleback maple that I had (really special board that I have been using little by little but I hesitate every time I cut into it) was really concerned about getting the “intarsia i guess” to fit especially around the hat and collar, made the cut and boom, had to fiddle with it a little but almost fit perfect right off the saw, want to think I’m getting good, but prolly just lucky :D. inlaid the flame into the board for a nice snug fit and inlaid all the numbers with an obsidian inlay. Happy with the results and heard that its already been shown off so I’m assuming my friend loves it too.

That flame shape turned out very good.
