Small cherry stirring spoon in cherry. Sanded to 2000 grit and burnished! Love cherry sanded so smooth – by the second wetting (to raise the grain) it was already staying smooth and free of fuzziness.

Nice to see that someone else likes to use burnishing as part of the finishing. Looks great.

Nice to see that someone else likes to use burnishing as part of the finishing. Looks great.

Since I discovered burnishing I do it to all my spoons! It’s kind of amazing how much of a shine you can bring up by just rubbing the wood with its own shavings. Burnished wood really seems to repel water too.
