Here is a coffee table I made from a slab of maple and some walnut for the legs. Finished with Arm-R-Seal.

Beautiful work. I have a slab that I’ll probably be doing something similar, but what is the red crossbar between the two slabs? Is it a wood brace or wood?

Rayne, I put the two orange metal strips there as a precaution. I wasn’t sure about the stability of the top since the two pieces aren’t connected except at the bottom of the legs. The legs are beefy enough that it probably would have been fine though. I’m not sure if I’ll keep them there yet.
