Segmented bowl made using Walnut, Sapele and Padauk. First try didn’t turn out perfect since only the outside ended up smooth. Candy bowl Christmas present for my grandma.

how wide were your segments when you cut them?
I draw my form out on graph paper so i can get an idea of how wide the segments need to be to get a solid wall. I’d also suggest taking a look at the program Woodturner Pro as a way to design your pieces.

The segments were either 1 or 1-1/4”, I don’t remember exactly. I think the biggest problem was that the layers were not perfectly circular so it got a little thin when I was turning the outside, so I couldn’t get the inside turned out. I based what I did off of a plan I found on the internet, but I will have to try that program when I do another
