This was my weekend project! Walnut, white ash splines, bubinga top and purple heart legs.
I want to have the legs taper into each other to givet he box more of a pedestal effect.
I finished it with four coats of lacquer for a strong and glossy finish that invites you to touch it and feel it.
The interrior will be given a tray and felt lining but thats a job to be done tomorrow.

Your choice of background material makes the legs appear as though they are straight and just sank into the material. I’m sure it looks better in person , but Jim is correct about the darkness issue. Maybe if you take some pictures out in the sunlight , it will let us see your project better and be able to tell where the box ends and the lid starts : ) Maybe a second spline in the lid would balance it out better. Just a thought : )

Interesting box. Would liked to of had a pic of the inside, even though it is not finished.
