I used white oak for this project and darkened it with a walnut stain. Having a pile of short pieces of white oak left over and not wanting to throw them out I came up with a chevron design for the lid.
This piece resides in the care of my wife as does a lot of things I’ve built.

I’m with Jack… I like the lid. I also like the seat set up with this project. I know we have 3 blanket chest here at my house (wife and both daughters have one), and we sit on them all the time. Never thought of the whole bench idea. I’m digging it.

Also like the little touch of the flowers on the top. Nicely done….

Once again thanks guys! As far as the finish there is none, just stain. I tried to talk her into but after awhile I felt like I was just pushing the air around.
