Project Information

Hey Guys,

This was a very special project combining two of my biggest passions, woodworking and technology. I made PC case or a modded PC case whatever you want to call it, completely out of wood. For this project I used two contrasting woods that work wonderfully together, Sycamore and Cherry both quartersawn to reveal the best of their character. I carved some logos into the front to give a little bit of bling and attached a lexan side panel, so I could see all of the components after I installed them. It was a really interesting dichotomy between fine hand cut joinery (old school) and top of the line high performance PC components (new school.)

I release a video on my channel cataloging the build, I hope you enjoy it. If you do please share it wherever you think someone might like to see it!

Thanks for watching, and please subscirbe to me on YouTube if you want to see more fun projects like this.

Thanks, it is fun to build things where form follows function. It flexes those creative muscle a little bit differently.

very cool…. but I thought they made them out of steel so it was easy to ensure components were grounded and the box was fire resistant.

Hmmmmmm….

The grounding of all of the components still happens through the power supply so that is not a concern. But if the components are producing enough heat to ignite the wood you have other problems. This is a one off and not really built for production. If I were making a production version, I would likely add some metal plates to retain screws for the motherboard and fans, but there would likely be other compliance considerations for the various CL UL compliance neccesary.

Thanks for checking it out!
