This is a queen Shaker style farmhouse bed that I built for my wife and I over a weekend. It was made out of pine and nice pine plywood panels. I really like the shaker style furniture and designs. So does the wife. This bed was built for about $350 in materials and wood.

Nice build – it’s always sweeter when it’s really your own

Cmon I feel like someone has to tell this guy that that is NOT shaker style… more mission than anything. Shaker furniture looks like this: vermontwoodsstudios.com/categories/shaker-style-furniture-collections

You maybe right. I designed it myself and modeled the bed after a shaker style door. Here is the model I used. I tried to create that panel effect. I was going to put the panel effect down the side, but my wife wanted a dust cover. I figure why do it if she is just going to cover it.

Thanks for the input.

Shaker furniture was simple, useful and well made, with no unnecessary adornment. So why can’t this be shaker ?
Their style varied from colony to colony, and it is simple useful and well built. Good build keep on making sawdust, and don’t pay too much attention to the naysayers.
