Great Room Fireplace Mantel

Our great room has 18 ft high ceilings …. the high ceilings provide for a lot of open wall space above and around the fireplace so we decided to expand the size of the fireplace mantel. Project took three Sunday afternoons.

Great job. I assume you didn’t use just them small ladders to get to the top.

Is it red oak?
