I built this prototype before I built two more with some fourth graders as a school project. It was a fun project with enough hand saw cuts and brace-drilled holes to ensure each child got a chance to contribute. Day one we cut and drilled, day two we bolted and screwed everything together and painted. I brought the wood home to prime it, but the kids did most of the other work. I recommend the project as an introduction to woodworking for kids. They use the benches in their classrooms as a place to read or sit and talk. I overheard one of the girls telling her father that, “This is the bench we built!” at Open House and it warmed my heart!

Very nice. Looks like something my grand daughters would like to participate in.

Great Job! Those look awesome I have recently did the same bench with my son. He wanted to do built it himself, I just took pictures and he did the work.
