This is a pen and letter opener set I made for my sister who graduated with her Masters in Psychology this year at age 50. The pen is a Rineheart pen kit from Woodcraft of Seattle where I work and I believe I got the letter opener from PSI (Penn State Ind.) The wood on both is a Stabilized Spalted Maple Burl. It’s finished with several coats of high friction polish made from shellac, wax and denatured alcohol. this was the first time I had made this letter opener and was a little disappointed in how small it was but it still makes a beautiful set to give as a graduation gift.

Good job on the pair. How long have you been turning?
