Well I had a blog entry that talked about the intense piece of curly Koa I had on hand. Being the box maker that I am what better use for it then a gorgeous lid.
I want this box to have an organic feel. Most of my boxes have sharp lines but on this one I wanted to reflect the organic beauty of koa.
The lid pulls are to small craved recesses on the sides.
Its a floating lid which I cut from the box for continuous gran flow, and the inside is lined with felt.
Finished with danish oil and wax

nice looking box!
it be good for you to include pics with the top off, the underside of the lid, that kind of stuff too! (please!!)
I like the contrast of the Koa and Maple. I also like how you use the curve to create the feet/legs. what do you use for a bottom, a floating piece captured in a dado?

I had to take those photos on my cell phone which sucked so as soon as I have a new memory card I will post all new pics of it.
theres a 1/4 inch groove an 8th inch in on the top and bottom this houses the lid and the 1/4 inch maple botom

I love anything with koa in it. Though I’m in Hawaii, koa is still expensive and hard to get. I need to make friends with some tree trimmers
