I did not have to go out of town this week, and my workbench is finished, so I can get back to doing what I enjoy so much.

This wood was given to me by Tom, who is a fellow woodworker and friend. He works at our plant in Indiana, and I will be visiting that plant this week. I wanted to make something to take to him to thank him. The wood has passed through many hands to get to me, and the true name has not followed with it. All I know is that it came from South America, it is extremely heavy, and Beautiful! The top and bottom was from a piece of curly maple I had lying around.

This box is about 9” wide, 5” deep, and 4” tall.

Thanks for looking, Nick

It is beautiful, not just the wood, but the craftsmanship put into making the box also. Your friend is going to be very happy with that.

They are both correct.
I “think” the wood is cocobolo.,might be wrong too.

I believe it is Amazonian Rosewood. Very similar to Cocobolo but less red. All the same, truly a beautiful piece. And something to be proud of.

I love the contrasting wood. I’m a big fan of curly maple. Wonderful craftsmanship!
