Several months ago I posted the Moxon type vice that I made. This has been a good vice for pieces that go through (pic1), but not good for small long pieces.(pic2).
To solve the problem I made the codpiece (pic3) that bolts to the clamping beam with 5/16” bolts with wing-nuts(pic4). This way when you close the main beam with the two hand screws and then tighten up the bottom crank, small pieces do not move. Also I can now use my hammer for other things than just hammering.

Wonderful idea Thomas, really love the detail of using the makker and even giving this a good grip.
Fine work.
