Few years ago, when I was looking for ideas for my hanging bookshelf project, I have stumbled upon two very interesting book racks – by RDR_82 and by Bob, both made as part of woodworking classes. I liked the idea, but it wasn’t the right size for my needs at that time. Now, two years later, I need one for my computer desk at work, so here is my take on this design.
I used book matched cherry boards (I have done re-sawing on my modest 10” Ricon band saw) with walnut accent, finished with Tung oil. Unlike the original design, I don’t use wedges with through tenons to hold the right end – it is a tight fit, and just friction alone holds parts together pretty well; perhaps I will change my mind later though, to add more visual interest. The left end can slide, obviously, so it could be adjusted to hold different number of books.

I am going to make this soon. I need some additional book shelf space.
