A co-worker asked me to make a clock from a sentimental tree (Pin oak). It was a tree by the family pool that when needed was used by the kids to pee behind. It was nicknamed the “Pee tree”. It fell last year and he gave me a section which I cut up and waited until it was dry enough to work. Man, does Pin Oak stink!

What a neat story and great job on the stool. I have sawed a few pin oak logs on my mill and I have to agree about the smell. In fact, people around here call it “Piss Oak” due to the odor. I did saw out some 3” planks once to cover the lube pit in my garage floor. Pin Oak is definitely not on my list of favorite woods!
