Greene & Greene Inspired Bench

I based this bench on the classic Greene & Greene / Hall Brothers furniture library.

Measurements are 40” L x 14” W x 16” H

Solid walnut with ebony highlights, 6 coats poly satin finish, all mortise/tenon construction, and through tenons for the bench top

Bookmatch-cut top is from a really interesting slab.

As this was a new design prototype I had no templates or cut list. The set-up with these types of features takes so much time that I made parts for three benches all at once. Measure twice, cut thrice!

Wow. That looks great. Nice details and I really like how you put the sapwood toward the center.

Yes, nice use of the sapwood. It’s really a beautiful piece and nicely crafted.

Great book match for the seat. You turned the sapwood into quite an eye-catching feature. Excellent work!

Nice bench! Walnut/ Greene & Greene is a good combo.

Great looking G&G bench—I like the bookmatched walnut and those wedged through tenons!
