I made this box for my sons 40th Birthday. He made the hammer when he was in high school and I decided to return it to him in a nice box.

The box is made of 3/8” thick Red Oak with 1/4” finger joints at the corners. The finger joints were made on a Leigh D4R. The top panel is some Koa that I picked up in Hawaii and was looking for a good use. The inside was flocked and it was the first time to do this and I am happy with it. It adds a nice touch.

The finish was a seal coat of white shellac followed with 4 coats of wipe on satin poly.

The hammer and the box that it now resides in are both works of art!

Great metal and woodworking too.

I should have brought back some koa when I went to Hawaii.
Your box is very nice.

Have your say...
