THE ROCKET is an English steam train engine built in early 19th century and its water storage happend to be a huge wooden barrel. My brother in law, an inactive L J, is a steam engine model builder for more than 35 years. Two years ago he started building THE ROCKET and asked me to make the barrel for him. Only few weeks ago, he ran it for the first time. I attended the run and felt happy that I had hand in his incredible model, it looked and ran like real train. ( you can see it and more in his site, just click on SHLEMON LIVE STEAM MODELS )
NO, this barel here is just a dummy, the real storage is mettal hidden somewhere.

Great work, looks like a bit of work when into that barrel.

Great working model of the first steam locomotive and carriages built by George Stephenson. The Rocket showed that a passenger railway was possible and all rail passenger trains came from this locomotive and Stephenson’s ‘Blutcher’ in 1814.The Rocket could do 22 mph and pull 12 tons.
Other “static” steam engines invented around the same time were by George Stephenson, James Watt, Thomas Savery and Thomas Newcomen.

Hey Jim,
Actually I do know:
It was invented by a Jewish carpenter who crushed viagra on the board to make it longer. Unfortunately it stretched it too long, so he had it circumcised to the correct length.
